Assistant or Associate Professor of Nutrition in Public Health

The Department of Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine of Université de Montréal is seeking to recruit an
Assistant or Associate Professor with research expertise in the field of nutrition and public health. A key
mission of the Department of Nutrition is to educate and train students as dieticians committed to practicing
within the four sectors of the profession: Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food Service
Management, Nutrition in Agrifood and Biopharmaceuticals. It is also the Department's mission to pursue
cutting-edge nutrition research and instruct students to develop strong skills in research practice and
knowledge dissemination at the national and international levels. Our vision is one where advancements in
nutrition are at the heart of transforming systems that are central to promoting health along with

As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Department
of Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine
through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline in
addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution. As such, you will need to

Accomplishments in research in the field of nutrition in public health, particularly on food systems
and their environmental, economic and political determinants, with a One Health approach;
-
Active integration of socially responsible research practices, taking into account the potential impact
on society;
-
Familiarity with research involving vulnerable populations and multicultural groups;

Ability to conduct research with Indigenous people in a culturally safe and participatory approach;
>
An expertise in quantitative and qualitative research, mixed designs, and/or in program evaluation;
>
Strong potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in nutrition
and the ability to supervise students at the graduate level.
**To succeed in this role, you'll need to: -
Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in nutrition or in a relevant field and demonstrate significant experience
and productivity at the postdoctoral level or as an independent researcher in the field(s) of interest;

Have demonstrated excellent research productivity through a publication record including articles in
relevant journals in the field, and possibly a track record of research funding from recognized
organizations;

Experience in teaching and research supervision at the undergraduate and graduate levels
(depending on career stage);

Being a member of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (or be eligible) and / or being
a member of the Dietitians of Canada (or be eligible) is an asset.

An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language
or a strong commitment to
mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal's Language Policy.
An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or
improve their communication skills.
