Is this challenge for you?
The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for developing and executing Annual Giving fundraising strategies and initiatives to cultivate and solicit annual and recurring donors. Working with the Senior Manager, Fundraising Operations and Analytics, this role is responsible for proposing and implementing sophisticated and robust direct response campaigns across Western Canada.

As the need for STARS' life-saving services grows, this position will help lead new donor acquisition efforts, for both annual and recurring giving programs. In addition, cultivation and retention efforts with existing donors will continue to prove essential. Both acquisition and cultivation streams will generate revenue that makes our life-saving mission possible.

We are looking for someone that cares about the quality and integrity of their work, showcases accountability in everything they do, and will ultimately create campaigns and maintain programs to inspire the support STARS needs to fuel its daily life-saving operations.

Strategy Development

  • Develop annual and recurring giving campaign strategies informed by best practices and data-driven insights, and recommend to Senior Manager, Fundraising Operations and Analytics
  • Propose comprehensive plans and tactics for acquisition of new annual and recurring donors; growing STARS' support and presence across existing communities
  • Propose strategies and actions for renewing and upgrading annual and recurring donors
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Manager and other stakeholders to integrate annual giving efforts with broader fundraising initiatives and organizational strategies

Campaign Planning and Execution

  • Plan, coordinate and execute several, cross-provincial annual giving campaigns across multiple channels, including direct mail, email, and social media
  • Develop critical paths and work with all stakeholders to ensure successful and timely implementation of direct marketing appeals (i.e. copy, design, data, production)
  • Ensure execution is tailored for specific target donor segments (active, lapsed, conversion, acquisition, recurring)
  • Assist in guiding campaign creative and materials that will effectively communicate impact and need, while remaining on brand
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to curate collateral for annual giving campaigns
  • Work with select vendors and partners to bolster and execute campaigns, serving as the primary contact
  • Support the growth and retention of the mid-level donor program through direct response initiatives

Campaign Monitoring and Analysis

  • Support the Senior Manager, Fundraising Operations and Analytics in analysis of campaign results
  • Monitoring ongoing performance of appeals and suggest strategy modifications as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, business, communications).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in annual giving fundraising or related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully planning and executing fundraising campaigns, demonstrating strong project management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing compelling fundraising appeals and donor communications.
  • Experience with donor database management and fundraising software (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
