Overview:
The Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator oversees activities related to the PharmD curriculum and assessment at the School of Pharmacy. Curriculum and assessment have both been identified as strategic priorities at the School of Pharmacy.

Organized management and oversight of the curriculum is essential to the School's mission and to its ongoing accreditation by the national regulatory body; similarly, excellence in programmatic assessment is critical in maintaining rigorous educational standards and national accreditation status.

The Coordinator provides high-level support in both of these portfolios.


The Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator's scope of work includes day to-day management of critical educational activities at the School as well as special projects important to the long-term goals of the School of Pharmacy.

The Coordinator works toward efficient process management across all of their responsibilities and integrates with main campus systems where possible.

The Coordinator also provides support for the Pharmacy Indigenous Initiatives Advisory Council and other groups related to Indigenous activities, requiring cultural sensitivity and confidence in interacting with senior University leadership.


The Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator reports to the Associate Director, Assessment and takes academic direction in terms of the curriculum from the Associate Director, Curriculum.


Responsibilities:

Curriculum Management and Instructional Support
Curriculum

  • Provides senior level support to the Associate Director, Curriculum, and the Curriculum Committee
  • Has a thorough understanding of the mandate of the Curriculum Committee
  • Briefs the Committee Chair; coordinates the preparation for and followup to meetings; organizes and schedules meetings; prepares agendas, minutes and supporting material and reports for Pharmacy Council
  • Ensures curriculum information is disseminated in an effective and timely manner amongst various stakeholders (Curriculum Committee, Assessment Committee, staff, faculty, students, Pharmacy graduate studies, etc.)
  • Manages the creation, updates, approvals, and distribution of course outlines
  • Manages the curricular mapping database
  • Serves as a key contributor to curriculum accreditation activities
  • Updates and monitors course descriptions and other information published in the Undergraduate Calendar and Course Catalog to ensure accuracy
  • Provides culturally sensitive, highlevel support to the Pharmacy Indigenous Initiatives Advisory Council, the Toward Decolonizing UW Health Studies Collaborative, and other working groups related to Indigenous initiatives in the Pharmacy curriculum
Scheduling

  • In consultation with the Associate Director, Curriculum, is responsible for all undergraduate course and exam scheduling
  • Works directly with instructors to resolve teaching conflicts
  • Creates all term deadlines and communicates them to instructors, staff, and students
  • In conjunction with the Undergraduate Affairs office, ensures the curriculum is implemented accurately
  • Creates and manages the Assessment Calendar to ensure various stakeholders have the information required to perform their roles
  • Provides feedback to the Associate Director, Curriculum on conflicts or poorly distributed assessments before the term begins, communicates change requests to instructors, and works directly with instructors to find a suitable solution
  • Liaises with the Registrar's Office for the proper scheduling of courses
Instructor Support

  • Manages the Undergraduate Course Resource process, including requests for Teaching Assistants (internal and external) and Guest Lecturers
  • Manages daytoday communication with instructors regarding preparation and implementation of course content and assessments
  • Develops the Pharmacy Instructors Hub website and serves as the Waterloo Content Management System (WCMS) site manager
  • Actively searches for resources to make available to instructors through the Pharmacy Instructors Hub or other avenues, aligning to strategic and assessment plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Assessment Management

  • Provides seniorlevel support to the Associate Director, Assessment, and the Assessment Committee

  • Briefs the Committee Chair; coordinates the preparation for and followup to meetings; organizes and schedules meetings; prepares agendas, minutes and supporting material
  • Oversees all aspects of the annual Midpoint Assessment and is responsible for data tracking and analytics
  • Manages the implementation of the School's Assessment Plan and continuous quality improvement cycle
  • Reviews and suggests process improvements related to the Assessment Plan on an ongoing basis
  • Implements examination policies and strategies within the School of Pharmacy
  • Provides guidance and advice to instructors on assessment management, including guidelines on how to manage exa
