Community Engagement Coordinator - 1 Year Contract

Salary/Hours:
$20/hr for 30 hrs/week - with ability to work evenings and weekends

Location:
Hybrid 75% In-person in the Willowdale community and 25% Virtual

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator is a motivated, enthusiastic, and community-minded leader.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating respectful, safe, and effective experiences for the following stakeholders; volunteers, small businesses, churches and agencies.


Details:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will be primarily responsible for:

Program Management (40%)

  • Manage all aspects of the stakeholder engagement cycle with specific attention to process development, and recognition/team building.
  • Work closely with staff to develop a full cycle volunteer program (recruitment, scheduling, orientation, attendance monitoring).
  • Oversee Client-Volunteer interaction to ensure clear program delivery expectations and outcomes and enjoyable experiences for everyone involved.
  • Identify strategies to increase volunteer engagement for individuals, agencies, and corporate groups including new and/or expanded roles and opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external information sessions.
  • Evaluate and monitor programs to enhance impact of annual objectives in accordance with the organization's strategy and vision.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory health and safety requirements.
  • Developing new and innovative ways of improving experiences and recognizing achievements of volunteers.

Volunteer Supervision (50%)

  • Provide daytoday supervision and coaching for volunteers.
  • Get to know volunteers and assign/reassign based on their skills, experience, availability, goals and interests.
  • Cultivate an engaged and empathetic volunteer team and deliver inperson support.

Communications & Administration (10%)

  • Keeping abreast of current volunteer management methods and new opportunities.
  • Providing volunteer updates to the leadership team and at weekly staff meetings.
  • Track expenses in line with program budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Volunteer management program graduate or related experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers and community partners.
  • Experience in community engagement and outreach
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, research, and analytical skills.
  • Friendly and respectful demeanor.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite is required (spreadsheets, docs, etc.) and aptitude to learn new computer programs as required i.e. Better Impact.
  • Able to multitask and demonstrate flexibility in taking on new tasks as they arise.
  • Ability to work well independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Mental health, social work, or Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training an asset.
