The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada's largest and most diversified port.

Our mandate as a Canada Port Authority, as set out by the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada's trade objectives, ensuring goods are moved safely and responsibly through the Port of Vancouver.

That means providing infrastructure and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic and cargo within the port.

It also means we carry out reviews of proposed activities and developments on federal port lands and waters to determine whether a project can go ahead without impacts to the environment and community that cannot be mitigated.

Accountabilities

  • Provide confidential support to the HR leadership team in the development and implementation of HR led projects, initiatives, and process changes.
  • Partner with project management and business optimization team where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement change management on HR led projects and process changes.
  • Develop confidential written communications and PowerPoints for the HR function including HR standard operating procedures, HR program and board committee materials and sensitive correspondence to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with management, project leaders and team members to create and integrate key messages associated with the project work streams.
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives and comply with established policy, procedures, and guidelines to protect yourself and your work colleagues. Report concerns, hazards, risks, and incidents to management for followup.
Specific Competencies

  • Must possess tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with confidential, sensitive and employment related issues.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences through a variety of mediums.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Must have acute business acumen and an understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
  • Must exhibit a strong orientation towards customer service and be highly motivated to work both independently and in a team environment.
Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree, plus a minimum of four years of related change management and internal communications experience.
  • Demonstrated working experience with department, divisional or organizational wide program communications and change management.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written, including strong editing, and writing abilities. Advanced PowerPoint skills.
  • Change management certification or designation desired; Prosci Certification would be an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment would also be an asset.
Marine Transportation Security Clearance


The incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid Marine Transportation Security Clearance as this position is required to access restricted areas/information as defined by the Marine Transportation Security Regulations.
