The opportunity:


Reporting to the Vice-President, Digital & Data Delivery, the Associate Vice-President, Digital & Data Delivery will be responsible for leading, rolling out, and supporting projects under the Data team within the Technology Department.

This involves collaborating with business users, vendors, and technology teams to understand problems and opportunities and recommend solutions that enable the organization to meet its goals.


The role will require parallel management and/or oversight of between 10 to 15 initiatives at any one time, delivered through multi-skilled teams.

The Associate Vice-President, Digital & Data Delivery will provide a sense of structure and order to each initiative, whilst also acting as a critical partner to the business while being responsible for outcomes that deliver business value and efficiency.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership
  • Managing crossfunctional teams of IT professionals to support assigned partner requirements.
  • Establishing daytoday management direction, defining priorities and strategies consistent with business goals and aligned to the technology leadership team's direction.
  • Communicating business vision, goals and portfolio priorities to team members (e.g. Application Owners / Development Managers, Data Analysis, Platform / Service and/or Technology Delivery Managers etc.).
  • Managing external relationships, communicating promptly and accurately, resolving issues, monitoring financials (e.g. against contracts).
  • Engaging with IT leadership to reinforce focus on reusability, scalability and enterprisewide solutions (and to maximize returns on product suites).
  • Knowing the competition, customer and industry trends, innovation; pinpointing relevant research opportunities.
  • Delivery Management
  • Developing impact assessments, managing delivery schedules, performing risk assessments to consistently manage operational processes (time reporting).
  • Assessing work plans, identifying scheduling issues, reporting and escalating, as needed.
  • Maintaining high level of customer service, ensuring commitments are met; recommending appropriate actions to enhance service levels, through effective service level management practices/ agreements.
  • Project Management
  • Assessing issues or change requests, determining what to report.
  • Working on project risk and scope assessments; helping clients, project managers, and vendors produce broad project plans, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Measuring and monitoring projects, staying within budget, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Tracking deliverables; sharing updates; supporting initiatives aimed at cost reduction and faster timetomarket.
  • Ensuring understanding of operational, reputational, and intellectual risks, advise to minimize, escalating if necessary.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Keeping all stakeholders up to date on project status and roadblocks.
  • Setting expectations with all stakeholders, executing, and communicating accordingly.
  • Willing to be diplomatic and have difficult conversations with team members, products owners, and delivery partners when there are challenges or issues impeding delivery execution.
  • Identifying risks and issues that require leadership attention.
  • Articulating and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner following stakeholder field of expertise.
  • Working effectively with Managers when needed to remediate risk around project delivery.
  • Engaging stakeholders (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Operations) as needed for consultation throughout the course of the project.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, computer science, information management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years experience working within IT in various delivery capacities.
  • 7+ years relevant experience working within financial services.
  • 57 years' experience in leading data projects/programs.
