The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is a dynamic hub in downtown Toronto.

It provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences.

Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all.


Founded on this site in state-of-the-arts home to the Al Green Theatre, four schools, four choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, Jewish Life programming, and a robust Active 55+ program.

It is a founding member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor.

Short Description of the Position:


As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Athletics Staff will be reporting to the Manager, Recreational Programming; the Athletics Staff is responsible for escorting children to and from after-school activities, setting up, tearing down and sanitizing equipment and supporting Athletics Instructors as needed.

The Athletics Staff will play a customer service role in helping the youth members of the MNjcc achieve their athletic goals through education and training in a friendly and inclusive setting.


Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic:

While working in person, all existing procedures around vaccination and PPE (personal protective equipment) must be followed.

Schedule:

  • 1 or more shifts per week

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Escorting children to and from activities
  • Setting up and tearing down equipment
  • Providing support, guidance, and/or demonstration of safe techniques and use of equipment.
  • Creating a fun and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Tidying up and/or cleaning equipment after use.
  • Representing the athletics staff in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Greeting members, smiling, engaging in conversation, answering questions, and assisting with general inquires.
  • Building and sustaining relationships with new and existing MNjcc members.
  • Responding to and/or assisting with onsite emergencies, incidents and accidents, which may involve the provision of Standard First Aid, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or the completion of an accident/incident report, when required.
  • Attending training, workshops, meetings and seminars as required.
  • Understands and adheres to and enforces MNjcc Policies and Procedures for all staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of athletic training principles, body movement patterns and the technical aspects of sport.
  • A current CPR-C certification. (This can be obtained within the first month of employment)
  • A Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment for all staff.

Salary and Benefits:

- $16.55 per hour

  • For the duration of your employment, you are entitled to a membership for yourself at the MNjcc fitness centre.
  • This position has paid sick leave
