JOB SUMMARY:

This role as Assistant, Athletic Therapy Services delivers athletic therapy services in the form of injury assessment, treatment, preventative maintenance, rehabilitation, as well as on-field coverage of urgent and non-urgent medical situations.

These duties will primarily focus on working with the Queen's Varsity Football team at Richardson Stadium during the fall semester and in the Q Sports Medicine Clinic throughout the remainder of the year.

Travel to team locations is necessary on a regular basis.

This position requires exercising skills in maintaining inventory of medical items, mentoring on-site Athletic Therapy Interns and frequent communication skills with therapy staff, physicians, student trainers, coaches, student-athletes and others.

This position coordinates the clinic's daily operations including scheduling appointments, reviewing medical sheets, maintaining patient records, and assisting with inventory management.

This position assists with overseeing, educating, and assessing student trainers. This position also provides preventative treatment and on-site first aid during athletic events.

The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends.

This position is subject to the Averaging provisions of the USW Local 2010 Collective Agreement.

The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work frequent early mornings, evenings and weekends, according to program or area needs.


What you will do:
Designs rehabilitative programs and incorporates therapeutic modalities into these programs where required.
Demonstrates prophylactic taping and bracing procedures to students.
Assists with overseeing, educating, and assessing student trainers.
Provides immediate first aid and pre-hospital care.
Provides on-site athletic therapy coverage at events.
Performs administrative activities including scheduling appointments, reviewing medical sheets, maintaining patient records, and assisting with inventory management.
Assists with implementing long-term plans for the clinic.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
~ Four-Year Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

Required Experience
~ More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications
~ Certification as an Athletic Therapist is required.
