POSITION PURPOSE

Manages all aspects of sales administration and account management within assigned geography including managing outside sales force and establishing in-depth relationships with customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales Account Management (in coordination with Regional Sales Managers):

Manage sales team in solicitation of orders consistent with all SSAB strategies, policies and relevant legal matters. Develop in depth customer relationships with key customers within assigned region and foster appropriate relationships with higher level managers Work in conjunction with regional sales managers to gather and interpret market intelligence such as market price, competitor information and industry trends. Manage territory to secure optimal tons to meet budgeted volumes Work with regional sales managers to develop account and territory plans. Work with regional sales managers to prepare customer forecasts as required Participate on the Sales Commercial Leadership Team. Manage the regional sales managers and inside sales representatives and develop procedures and guidelines for continuous improvement within the departments. Ensure sufficient training for RSM's and ISR's, and participate as required. Mentor, coach and counsel RSM's and ISR's. Utilize the SSAB performance management process. Coordinate with other sales territories to ensure cohesive and non-contradictory approaches to market. Guide sales team in development of customer technical, digitalization and sustainability projects within assigned region.

Miscellaneous Administrative Responsibilities

Manage the proper utilization of the pricing system, ensuring accuracy and full adherence to the pricing approval policy. Review overall regional order book on a regular basis to ensure sales compliance to budgeted volumes, pricing and sales policies. Manage claims administration ensuring timely claim processing and comprehensive and accurate collection of complaint information submitted for disposition. Participate in weekly accounts payable review and provide general input, action and feedback on status of past due accounts or payable issues. Provide internal communication as necessary for proper inventory management and purchasing to support customer contracts. Coordinate communication with internal company resources to resolve issues. Identify, develop and execute corrective actions as required. Lead sales team in preparation of sales forecasts, reports and budgets as required Write & submit weekly highlight reports Complete & submit expense reports per policy Conduct all business within the scope of SSAB's company policies & procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies and Experience

Required:

Minimum of 10 years sales experience in a related product field An in-depth knowledge of the plate and hot rolled steel industry Excellent complex negotiations skills Excellent organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Computer skill including knowledge in: Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word Ability to work and think independently Ability to work and contribute in a team environment Strong analytical skills and ability to decipher sales strategies and customer needs from limited input Willingness to travel at times in excess of 50% and open to relocation Sufficient technical skills to ensure effective sales of sophisticated product offering Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred:

Product knowledge and capabilities of SSAB products Knowledge of plate customer base Knowledge of steel industry

Education

Required:

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Metallurgy or equivalent experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTS

Position has supervisory responsibility for three (3) direct reports; (2) Regional Sales Managers, (1) Inside Sales Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee will frequently be required to:

Work in an office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners. The in-office portion of this role is partially sedentary with some standing and walking required Work in the field with potential exposure to heat/cold, walking and climbing stairs Drive an automobile or travel by airplane

The employee will occasionally be required to:

Handle steel samples and analyze claim material. This would require the ability to walk, bend, kneel or stand, use of hands to finger, hold and handle, reach with hands and arms and to push/pull, lift or carry items up to 50 lbs.

The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities:

Talking person to person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Hearing in person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Vision at near, mid, and far range

POSITION TYPE – WORK HOURS - TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Position is regular full time, exempt and not eligible for overtime pay Travel is necessary and expected at times to require over 50% of time in the field and SSAB locations via automobile and airplane – valid ID and good driving record needed Onsite presence required
