Title of CourseSOCI 2P47 - Racialization and Society
Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are compensated based on the employee's qualifications.
- Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will receive the undergraduate rate per hour.
- Employees holding a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate per hour.
- Additional duties beyond regular Teaching Assistant responsibilities will be remunerated at the appropriate rate.
Duties
The Teaching Assistant's responsibilities align with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These include scheduled student interaction, preparation of materials, grading, examination supervision, lecture attendance, office hours, and other course-related tasks.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent. Exceptionally, students in an Honours Program (with 15 credits completed) in Sociology or equivalent* (with an 80% average or above) will be considered if positions are available.
- Successful completion of the relevant course with a grade of 75% or higher.
- Evidence of teaching proficiency, including previous evaluations.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, especially during demanding work periods.
