About the Job:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Orthoptist position at Nova Scotia Health in the Central Zone. Join our passionate team and be part of the largest health services provider in Nova Scotia. As an Orthoptist, you will specialize in the diagnosis and management of eye movement disorders, interpreting diagnostic data, recommending treatment options, and providing follow-up care. Your role will also involve highly technical procedures to collect diagnostic data for various ocular disorders. In addition, you will play a key role in teaching medical students, orthoptic/ophthalmic medical technology students, and ophthalmology residents.

Recruitment Incentives

Successful candidates may be eligible for up to $10,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.

Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate degree plus two-year training program, or Master's degree in clinical vision science
  • Graduate of an accredited Orthoptics/Ophthalmic Medical Technologists program
  • Orthoptist as certified by the Canadian Orthoptic Council JCAHPO certification at the technologist level
  • Previous orthoptic technologist experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational, time management, stress management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Working Hours:
  • Permanent Part time, 80% FTE, 60 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits:

$43.80 Hourly
