OUT OF SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM LEADER

(Our House Child Care Centre - Out of School Care)

Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association is seeking highly energetic and flexible individuals to deliver a quality Out of School Care program for families living in the Mount Pleasant community and area. Our House Out of School Care is operating under the guidelines of the provincial health authorities and COVID-19 operating procedures will be in place to encourage physical distancing to help maintain the health and safety of all children and staff. Program Leaders will be required to complete the COVID-19 health and safety training in addition to regular new staff training.

Responsibilities:

  • Guiding and caring for children ages 512 years.
  • Providing leadership and supervision of children.
  • Planning developmentally appropriate activities that provide children with positive play experiences.
  • Leading and facilitating Children's Rights activities and discussions
  • Actively participating in all aspects of program such as games, art and activities.
  • Ensuring a safe, healthy and fun environment for the children.
  • Maintaining open and supportive relationships with families.
  • Developing strong working relationships with the staff and community.
  • Daily duties will be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training Certificate or equivalent training in accordance to licensing requirements.
  • Experience working in a related childcare or recreation setting as a leader.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Provide copy of immunization record.
  • Strong skills in program planning for school age children.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Effective leadership and supervisory skills with children and adults.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to deliver services to a culturally and economically diverse community.
  • Knowledge of Children's Rights
  • Ability to lead and facilitate activities, games and discussions

Rate of Pay:
$20.02-$21.58/hour (Includes 4 % vacation pay) - depending on experience

Hours:
Part-time, 2-5 days per week

7:15-9:15am / 2-6pm

(Some availability for a shared work week)

(Additional hours during school breaks & pro days - Flexible schedule and availability is needed)

Contract Term:
February - June 28, 2024 (to be renegotiated for summer)
