Position description
The Department of Pathology is a leader in pathology education and research.
We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in education and research training in a wide variety of areas such as carcinogenesis, mechanisms of respiratory diseases, molecular pathology and immunology, neoplasia and cell biology, cell differentiation, cell adhesion molecules, biomedical image processing, neurodegenerative disorders and ophthalmic pathology.
The Division of Hematopathology is seeking a hematopathologist to join a high-volume comprehensive Division with a dynamic group of fourteen pathologists based at the Jewish General Hospital.
The JGH is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada's renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
The JGH Pathology lab is part of the Optilab Montréal MUHC network. Over 70,000 specimens are processed annually in surgical, non-GYN cytology and molecular pathology.Hematopathology service includes bone marrow biopsies, lymph nodes, spleen, extranodal lymphomas, flow cytometry, and molecular pathology (i.e., including NGS myeloid panel and T and B cell clonality).
Job Duties
McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a medical degree and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec;
- Have completed subspecialty training in Anatomical Pathology and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);
- Have at least one year of training in Hematological Pathology;
- Have at least five years of experience in Hematological Pathology;
- Have a commitment to teaching and an interest in clinical research and publication;
- Have proven ability to work in a team and a strong track record of collegiality;
- Relevant experience in another field of surgical pathology, including (but not limited to) skin, head and neck, bone and soft tissue and lung pathology, while not required, will be considered an asset;
- Additional expertise in Molecular Pathology, Flow Cytometry and/or Immunohistochemistry, while not required, will be considered an asset
