Our cutting-edge A-CAES technology is uniquely positioned to revolutionize the energy landscape. Hydrostor is looking for a Senior Associate to join our Business Development team in Toronto. This individual will play a key role in supporting the market strategy, early-stage development, and origination workstreams.

As Hydrostor looks to develop a global footprint, this role is expected to have exposure to international markets and significant opportunities to take on additional responsibility as the company expands.

Lead research activities within different international markets, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas in order to identify target markets for Hydrostor
Conduct research and analysis on local power market dynamics, prospective clients, and potential project partnership opportunities
Carry out financial analysis on prospective opportunities, including, collaborating with the technical and development team to develop operating and capital cost estimates as well as pricing offtake agreements to achieve target returns
Model future power market revenue streams (such as capacity payments, ancillary service payments, and price arbitrage) and cash flows for projects of various sizes based on expected market trends

Support the advancement of early-stage development activities, by understanding local process and progressing activities related to interconnection process, land acquisition, and permitting, etc.

Identify opportunities to participate in a variety of public funding/grant/consultations that allow for advancing long-duration energy storage project opportunities

Develop, implement, and maintain organizational tools to help manage BD efforts; Experience in the power sector, particularly early-stage project development is a requirement, with international experience of particular value.

In addition, experience in financial modelling for power-related or infrastructure projects would be considered a strong asset.

Critical thinking, good judgment, and a can-do attitude will be important as the successful candidate will be called upon to support a wide range of business development activities.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be highly organized, and be able to succeed in an international business environment with many concurrent projects and deadlines.

Bachelor's degree (business or engineering degree preferred)
~3+ years of professional work experience
~ Prior experience in the power sector, in a business development role focused on early-stage development is required
~ Understanding of how to interpret and modify a financial model to prepare required output to assess project/development opportunities is required
~ International development experience in a renewable development role is a strong asset
~ Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently
~ Strong MS Office and other software skills – mainly PowerPoint, Excel (i.e. financial modelling), Word, SharePoint, and Teams
