Job Summary:


The Immigrant Youth Employment Specialist will assist newcomer youth ages 15 to 30 to reach their education and employment goals through coaching, case management, and workshops.

They will also network with local employers to create employment opportunities for newcomer youth.

Your Role:

Archway's Youth Employment Specialist with the Immigrant Youth Program contributes by:

  • Providing individual coaching to newcomer youth to help them with resume writing, job search techniques, labour market information, career and/or education planning, assessment tools, and workshops.
  • Providing oneonone support to newcomer youth with barriers to employment or education using case management principles such as goal setting and barrier identification to create a plan and track progress.
  • Networking with local employers to create job placement opportunities for newcomer youth.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including prospective employers.
  • Planning and facilitating monthly employment workshops.
  • Working with the newcomer youth's existing support networks and providing referrals to address other settlement needs, as required.
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant employment and educational programs and opportunities for youth.


This position is a great fit for someone who is knowledgeable of the local labour market, has great networking and relationship building skills, problem-building and organizational skills.


Our Offer:

  • Wage: $25.00 per hour

  • A permanent, parttime position at 21 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have:

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Experience engaging and working with youth and/or people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience planning and facilitating workshops, especially with an employment focus.
  • Experience using case management principles in providing services to clients.
  • Ability to speak a language other than English is an asset, especially Punjabi or Arabic.
  • A Career Development Practitioner Certificate is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Thorough knowledge of the local labour market and job search strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge relating to best practices in employment skills, including resume and cover letter writing and formatting, networking, and interviewing.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of Canadian workplace cultural norms.
  • Strong verbal, written, and active listening communication skills; able to communicate clearly and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and varying levels of English.
  • Welldeveloped organizational and time management skills; able to balance and manage competing projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to create reports, presentations, and communication with clients, stakeholders, and Archway staff.
  • Knowledge and ability to use social media.
  • Ability to drive clients with an agency vehicle.
  • Ability to interact with people in difficult situations.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
