Position Overview:
The Director of Finance and People Development plays a crucial role in managing the organization's finances and ensuring financial stability in changing economic landscapes. This position acts as a driver for business and philanthropic growth, aligning strategic objectives with financial goals.


Responsibilities:
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to HR, Payroll, and Finance teams to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Offering HR leadership and expertise to teams regarding all people-related matters to support operational objectives, such as recruitment, retention, disability management, and succession planning.
  • Participating in leadership meetings, Board of Directors' sessions, and strategic planning gatherings.
  • Identifying and managing financial risks and opportunities within the organization.
  • Developing guidelines for executive and Senior Leadership review of accounting practices.
  • Staying updated on government and industry policy changes affecting financial operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Implementing and enforcing accounting, regulatory, and funder-developed practices.
  • Overseeing monthly and annual financial reporting, account analysis, and benchmark analytics.
  • Preparing and supporting grant funding activities and enterprise risk management.
  • Managing financial result analysis, key performance drivers, and proposing strategies to enhance business objectives.
  • Establishing and maintaining a robust financial and accounting system to accurately record all transactions.
  • Performing other duties as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years experience, with 5 years in a senior financial and HR role.
  • University degree in relevant fields (Accounting, Finance, Human Resources).
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA, or CPA CGA).
  • Prior accounting experience in a non-profit organization or charity.
  • Ability to translate financial reports into actionable insights.
  • Self-motivated with strong multitasking abilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record of building relationships with key stakeholders.
