The Business & Finance team is responsible for providing administrative support to Command Staff and Unit Commanders, as well as coordinating and managing programs and services that support OPP Frontline Officers and detachments.

The team's work contributes to how the OPP delivers policing services to those who live, work, and travel throughout Southwestern Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?: To provide financial, clerical and administrative services to the Regional Headquarters.

How do I qualify?:

Mandatory:

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Oral communication skills to clarify the nature of requests from callers, relay messages, and respond to enquiries by providing detailed information, in person and by phone to agencies, companies, police services, and the public.
  • Ability to exercise sensitivity, tact and diplomacy while greeting and responding to requests for information from individuals who are sometimes distraught, overly emotional or irate.
  • Knowledge of and skill in computer operation and software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to type correspondence, prepare presentations and produce financial/statistical reports as well as knowledge of records management practices.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize own work on a daily basis; work under general supervision in performing clerical and administrative support duties and work as part of a team.
  • Problemsolving skills to check and verify a variety of reports, forms, and documents for accuracy; followup and correct where appropriate. Ability to demonstrate flexibility.
  • Ability to verify that documents are complete and correct; obtain information, if necessary, and modify documents or create new documents as required. Ability to conduct searches, as directed, to compile information.
