Are you passionate about the Guelph CHC's Vision, Mission and Values and working with our priority populations who are: homeless or at risk of homelessness, low income, newcomers to Canada with language barriers, moderate to severe mental health and/or addiction issues, moderate to severe disabilities, without access to primary care, aboriginal communities, including First Nations, Inuit and Métis, LGBTQ+ populations, other marginalized groups, and vulnerable children and their families experiencing violence, family conflict, social isolation and attachment struggles? Eligibility requirements
This position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs fund.

In order to be considered for this job you must:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment contract;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment (student visas do not qualify); and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Health Promotion and Social Prescribing program support including planning, administration, evaluation and documentation
  • Facilitate or cofacilitate (with volunteers) health promotion programs as needed. Program may include walking groups, social/coffee time programs, immigrant women's groups, digital skill building, etc.
  • Welcome clients to the Shelldale clinic
  • Update electronic medical record data
  • Support clients with digital navigation as needed
  • Translate Guelph CHC communication materials into plain language
  • Creation of online learning modules for volunteer roles

Required Qualifications:

  • Welcoming and engaging nature
  • Sensitivity to and comfortable with Guelph CHC's priority groups
  • Empathetic, compassionate and nonjudgmental when working with vulnerable populations
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Patient, reliable, good judgment and a genuine interest in the well being of others
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a high degree of confidentiality is essential
  • Fully vaccinated
  • Selfmotivated and able to work independently
  • Research and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to use a variety of computer programs and office equipment
  • Tech savy and skilled with various electronic platforms, digital problem solving skills
  • Positive attitude, good judgement and reliable
  • Possession of a valid Class "G" Ontario Driver's License required, access to a vehicle considered an asset
  • This role would be a good fit for someone looking to move into medical secretary or health promotion work
