YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
SPECIALIST:
- Evaluate existing learning programs, recommend and implement changes.
- Identify learning needs to ensure success of strategic and operational plans.
- Research, design, develop, implement, and evaluate programming including plans and methodology; maintain standardized, comprehensive training programs.
- Develop and effectively communicate a learning strategy for the organization; provide an annual learning plan that supports this strategy.
- Consult with and support all departments to identify, plan, and implement training and development requirements as determined by organizational performance needs.
- Evaluate ESL levels with employees; make recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate job shadowing, equipment demos and hands-on training to improve knowledge and skill levels; develop and maintain engaging training, monitor effectiveness, and support internal learning across all departments.
- Provide competency training on general workplace standards, processes and tools.
- Promote a culture of quality, health and safety and environmental excellence.
- Encompass Lean Principles/Practices and Continuous Improvement Methodologies.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
SPECIALIST:
- Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or relevant field
- 5+ years experience in an operational role; 2+ years experience, building and delivering training systems for adult learning within a manufacturing setting
- Experience in Train the Trainer, Training Within Industry, (TWI) ESL instruction, and blueprint reading considered an asset
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles and familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques
- Strong planning and organization; can multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong MS Office skills to manage course material (i.e. materials, procedures, manuals, handouts, charts, schematics and online presentations)
- Experience delivering training in a unionized environment would be an asset
- Prior experience in curriculum development considered an asset
- Lean Manufacturing Training is an asset; ideally willing to obtain
