  • Reporting to the Senior Leader or designate, the Leader, Clinical Education and Special Projects is an innovator, knowledge translator, facilitator and change agent accountable for developing and delivering excellence in clinical education. The scope of practice of the Leader, Clinical Education and Special Projects is broad and complex working within and across C&W to provide planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of specialized education programs/projects that contribute to the achievement of clinical area/program/Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) goals and objectives, accreditation mandates and the alignment with the C&W strategic action plans. The Leader, Clinical Education and Special Projects monitors and tracks project progress according to project plan makes recommendations to the Senior Leader on changes required to facilitate a successful outcome regarding major barriers encountered.

What you'll do

  • Work under the guidance of Senior Leaders and collaboratively with program leaders, and staff to assess program and crossprogram clerical education needs and priorities and develops learning strategies, education plans and standards to meet those needs. Implements and evaluates resulting learning programs.
  • Provide education, consultation, guidance and support curriculum design, materials development and effective learning strategies including teaching, facilitation and simulation and provides onthejob support to clerical staff. Assist with sitewide implementation and coordination of initiatives. Establishes evaluation plans using logic and Kirkpatrick models to ensure learning programs are meeting learning outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of assigned competencybased learning programs for orientation and continuing education of clerical staff, integrating these with policies and procedures and the performance management process. Ensure the development and updating of resources to support such education in order to develop and maintain staff competency with changing procedures, processes and electronic health record.
  • Lead the review of existing education programs and projects to inform current curriculum development and implementation. Engage with leadership, academic and other stakeholders to ensure highquality specialty education design that is in alignment with provincial, PHSA, and C&W priorities or needs, such as human resource planning, accreditation, and competencies.
  • Collaborate with clerical leaders in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines for clerical staff.
  • Identify clerical staff needs to onboarding to CW and CST training and develop education plan.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on time as identified in the project plan. Identify gaps and tracks metrics as they relate to the project deliverables and provides consultation, guidance and support to designated project staff, contractors and stakeholders.

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or other clinical profession plus additional studies in education with a minimum of five (5) years clinical experience including two (2) years of education experience.

  • Knowledge of learning and evaluation models such as logic and Kirkpatrick.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs and work under pressure of deadlines.
  • Proven ability to lead staff to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • The ability to support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
