Job Description:


Reporting to the Health and Safety Specialist, the Safety Programs Intern on the People and Inclusion team will have the unique opportunity to assist in projects related to the development of in-house hazard program.

This includes document development and management of a robust job hazard program which requires the interaction with many stakeholders within the MLSE community, including unions.

MLSE's Internship term dates are from
September 11th, December 22nd, 2023.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand the potential hazards associated with each position at MLSE.
  • Create and manage the appropriate hazard analysis, including input from each stakeholder
  • Create and manage the compliance documentation to support hazard analysis
  • Identify, champion, and support any additional training programs concurrently with the development of JHA.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college degree / diploma in a community safety, emergency management, or related field
  • Ability to conduct business and communicate in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud required
  • Previous experience developing policies, procedures and training manuals considered an asset.
  • Experience working within a Unionized environment would be an asset
  • You are fully vaccinated against Covid19
