What to expect:


The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely, accurate and confidential handling of Payroll, Expense reports and other accounting functions for the CWB Group.


This includes:
Payroll Responsibilities

  • Preparation, submission and reporting for Salary and Hourly Payroll. (Bi-Weekly & Semi-Monthly)
  • Preparation, submission and reporting for Sunlife Pension
  • Monthly Account Reconciliations
WSIB Monthly Remittances

  • Preparation and reporting of Annual payroll remittances
  • Payroll Year End reporting, including processing of employee tax slips (T4's, Releve1)
  • Responsible for obtaining WSIB Clearance Certificates upon request
  • Government filings as related to payroll
Employee Expense Reports Administration and Processing

  • Program Administrator for Concur Expense Software
  • Setting up new employees' profile and changes as needed
  • Daily approvals and reporting of employee expenses in Concur software
  • Credit Card Reconciliations between Concur and Amex
  • Reconciliation between employee profile in Concur and payroll (UKG Pro Pay)
Corporate Credit Cards Administration

  • Program Administrator for American Express Corporate Cards for employees
  • Program Administrator for American Express Travel Portal (Concur)
Other duties as assigned

  • Responsible for obtaining Certificates of Liability insurance documents upon request
  • Assist in the preparation of the corporate and departmental budgets as related to salaries
  • Assist with the Yearend external Audit as it relates to payroll
  • Intercompany bank transfers between the TD bank accounts
  • Daily cashflow report, bank statements download


In this position, you will report to the Director, Finance and will be working remotely from your home office in Canada.

CWB is adopting a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person.

We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.


What you bring to the table:

  • Full cycle payroll processing in UKG
  • Expert knowledge of cost and financial accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Solid analytical skills combined with an understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • General knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the impact that harmonization of International Standards (IFRS) will play on its evolution
  • Skilled in performing complex numerical calculations
  • Skilled in preparing complex management reports on a timely basis
  • Experience in the use of personal computers and related financial and statistical software products
  • A multitasker with superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Selfstarter with strong interpersonal skills, who can create partnerships, tolerates ambiguity and demonstrates good problemsolving skills

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • Accounting Diploma or accounting courses


 CPA
  • Canadian Payroll association designation
