Reporting to the Construction Manager you will perform the following:

  • Pre-site visits for safety checks, equipment mobilization and scope of work planning
  • Responsible for leading a crew of 35 people and carrying out work on one or multiple construction sites at one time
  • Liaising with the Construction Manager, Chief Estimator and General Manager to ensure job scope is followed accurately as per customer expectations
  • Responsible for the safety of crew members, on site contractors, customers (if present) and maintaining the integrity of the environment and environmental conditions
  • Responsible for ensuring job is done on time and on budget
  • Responsible for carrying out onsite work as per approved permits
  • Operate equipment
  • Backhoes, Track hoes, Tracked Loaders and Skid steer as required
  • Must be able to operate a Trimble GPS System
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment
  • Coordinate applicable sub trades, including hydro vacs, crane trucks, plumbers and electricians.
  • Follow safe operating procedures and participate in the Environmental and Health & Safety Programs.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions, work flexible hours during weekdays, weekend's when required.
  • Perform maintenance functions on equipment, mobile equipment & the facility such as greasing, preventative maintenance checks and inspections.
  • Complete general tasks around the facility.
  • Work with customers and employees in a courteous and professional manner following our vision and values.

  • Off season work may not have fulltime hours

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

Minimum 5 years experience in managing people in the field:


  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Moving and operating skid steer, hoe and excavator:

Final grading:
PSDS (Private Sewage Disposal System) Certificate: Ability to create and submit site construction permits-
Must have experience with Trimble GPS System:

  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills (3+ years of managing personnel)
  • Adequate physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather

A valid, class 5 drivers licence. A drivers abstract must be provided

  • Class 3 licence is considered an asset

Valid Ground Disturbance Certificate:

  • H2S, WHMIS, First Aid, Heavy Equipment Operating courses are considered and asset.
