Work Description

Major Responsibilities:

Human Resources
-
ONBOARDING: Responsible for overseeing a robust and cohesive onboarding process to assist new hires in adjusting to performance aspects and expectations to be used across the Group. The HR Manager ensures a successful integration into the company. Responsible for the ongoing updates of the onboarding presentation.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT: Designing training programs to fit the needs of the individual, manager and company. Includes PIPs, formal training programs or ad-hoc coaching to managers.

PERFORMANCE & DISCIPLINE: Attend or support HRBPs for one-on-one meetings with employees to prepare them for disciplinary or performance meetings. Ensure employees are receiving fair and unbiased assessments and treatment.

TERMINATION and OFFBOARDING: Manage the termination process to ensure compliance with employment and labour standards and relevant legislation to produce and deliver notices of terminations.

HUMAN RESOURCES POLICY: Develop new Human Resources policies as requested by HRD or HR Committee and make recommendations on improving current Human Resources policies to be used for all companies across the Group.

COMPLIANCE: Improve equal opportunity measures while ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory standards.

DOCUMENTATION & PROCESSES:Create and introduce templates in conjunction with HRD for various Human Resources needs or other administrative needs for the group of companies, including but not limited to onboarding templates and guides, various forms and letters, checklists and other employee hand outs or information to be used.

HRIS & SYSTEMS: Maintain current and historical employee information by designing processes and structures to document employee lifecycles.

Be the primary gatekeeper on our HR systems:
BambooHR and HRDownloads for all companies across the Group.
Lead the support and maintenance of the HRIS.

COMPENSATION & TOTAL REWARDS**: Monitor and maintain the employee salary and bonus by periodically auditing or participating in the annual bonus and salary review processes for the assigned unit(s) and across the Group. The HRM will also prepare pay scales, oversee individual pay changes and approval, and implement pay structure revisions. Flag and/or monitor compensation concerns and inequalities. Also, advise other HR team members, managers, or employees on compensation and benefits.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: Implement structure for goal setting, feedback and commentary while also preparing HRBPs to support their managers for one-on-one meetings with employees.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT:Motivate current and prospective employees regarding information related to Human Resources policies, job duties, working conditions, compensation and benefits, and opportunities for advancement. Lead engagement initiatives such as events, retreats, engagement surveys or benchmarking.

NETWORKING: Regularly attend networking events and build brand awareness for the Taggart Group as an employer of choice. Build connections in the construction and real estate industry to become familiar with top talent, best practices and trends.

  • Provide recommendations to the HR Committee on employee relations best practices and how we can be more appealing as an employer.
  • Prepare for and participate in monthly HR Committee Meetings.
  • Supervise and guide HRBPs on summarizing and flagging concerns to managers when employees bring forth issues. Track patterns and provide recommendations to resolve the concerns.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  • Coach, mentor, and ensure that the HR team performs according to the job specification and performance standards.
  • Provide feedback and direction to HR staff. Answer questions or concerns for the team as they arise.
  • Coach and manage the performance of direct reports.
  • All other duties as required.
