The Executive Communications Centre of Expertise team within the Canadian Business Segment communications group is focused on elevating the voices of the most senior executives we support to drive business objectives.

This team is responsible for delivering compelling narratives and driving thought leadership through persuasive writing, strong business acumen and program management capabilities.

The team delivers on Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA's) broader mission to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, drive business outcomes and enhance our brand.


Job Description:


We're looking for a strong and passionate communicator to join our team and help us bring the TD story to life through strategic and creative communications initiatives in support of TD's Group Head of Wealth and Insurance.

Reporting to the Centre of Excellence Senior Manager, this role will work together with the CAPA relationship managers (RM) supporting Wealth and Insurance, the Group Head office and business partners to plan and execute communications activities for the Group Head.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Research and write a wide variety of communication materials including quarterly/year end updates, speaking remarks, scripts, presentations, employee communications and briefing documents for colleague engagements, speaking opportunities, media interviews and internal and external events as required.
  • Support with the design and execution of programs that align to the Wealth and Insurance strategy, helping support and achieve business objectives and bring the business strategy and priorities to life.
  • Build the online presence for TD Wealth and Insurance executives, including the Group Head, specifically on social media platforms such as LinkedIN leveraging best practices.
  • Through an understanding of business priorities, identify strategic opportunities for Group Head communications and supporting tactics internally and externally.
  • Develop strong working relationships with leaders and business partners in Wealth and Insurance, and across TD, to tell the One TD story.
  • Oversee and prioritize incoming requests, both internal and external.

Requirements:

  • Seven or more years' experience in corporate communications (previous executive communications or journalism experience is an asset).
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and a passion for storytelling.
  • Excellent ability to partner effectively with colleagues in CAPA and across the bank, at all levels.
  • Experience writing speeches and preparing presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines and navigate a complex organization.
  • Experience in exercising judgment and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and in providing sound communication counsel to senior executives.
  • Resourceful and creative, with superior attention to detail and an ability to deliver high quality work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and knowledge of leadership communications.
  • Experience working with digital communication platforms including LinkedIn.
