About the role


You will also manage CDIC's overall reputational risk and ensure effective crisis communication plans are developed and tested to allow for flawless execution.

As leader of a multi-disciplinary team, you will act as a mentor and foster innovation, transparent and respectful communication, and accountability to deliver best in class communication and reporting products and services.

This role can be performed from our Ottawa office, following a hybrid model approach. #LI-Hybrid

We trust you will be up to the challenge

  • Oversee the development of CDIC's Corporate Plan and Annual Report, including ensuring all necessary approvals are received, and that plans are cascaded internally in a compelling way to ensure corporatewide understanding.
  • Lead the Corporation's efforts on establishing and nurturing its ESG posture and framework.
  • Provide strategic oversight and advice for the development and execution of crisis communications strategies and plans, and messaging to form timely and effective communications to stakeholders as a credible source of information.
  • Provide leadership and direction on the development of CDIC's public awareness strategy and multimilliondollar advertising and marketing budget.
  • Oversee to the creation of digital and traditional media products and tools (i.e. Portals/web/print, social) that contribute to CDIC's brand and reputation both internally and externally and speech writing activities
  • Proactively follow media and stats abreast of key developments impacting CDIC's stakeholders, to identify opportunities, risks and challenges.
  • May be called upon to act as spokesperson for CDIC.

About you

  • 7+ years managing a team of communication professionals in a variety of disciplines
  • 5+ years in senior leadership role (e.g. director)
  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Communications, International Relations, Journalism, Business or related field, an asset
  • Excellent ability to work strategically and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic plan. Project management experience (PMP) an asset
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Exceptional communicator
  • Proven ability to tease about complex issues into relatable and relevant content for broader consumption
  • Media relations experience, an asset
  • Grace under pressure

Language Requirements:
CBC (bilingualism in French & English)

Security Clearance:
Eligibility to obtain a Secret level security clearance
