The Network, Security and Infrastructure Specialist plays a key role in providing continuous support for the information service technologies within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. This role involves developing, implementing, verifying, administering, and maintaining the security and stability of the network systems and their associated software\hardware components for approximately 200 buildings and over 10,000 staff (60,000 students). This role is also responsible for the implementation and management of Cyber Security systems, processes, assessments, and procedures, to ensure that all HRCE data is kept secure and safe from cyber threats. The Specialist is responsible for the Enterprise Application software management, such as, but not limited to Microsoft 365 administration. Working collaboratively with a technology team, the Network, Security and Infrastructure Specialist provides front-line technical support to over 300 Central Office employees and reports directly to the Manager, Network Infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Post Secondary education in information systems, or acceptable equivalent education and experience; Professional certification in a relevant IT field (i.e.Fortinet Certified Associate (FCA), Cisco CCNA or CCT); Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in information and communication technology in a large organization; Proficient with a virtualized data center environment utilizing various hypervisors (i.e., Hyper-V, VMware); Proficient with FortiOS (FortiGates, Wireless Controllers, switches); Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, Azure SQL Servers, network monitoring and auditing tools; Knowledge and/or experience with Cisco IOS Fiber-channel configuration considered an asset; Experience in an education IT environment considered an asset; Experience utilizing Veeam backup considered an asset.Salary:
This is a Professional Employees Group (PEG) position classified on the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework at Band 7 with an annual range between $$62,073 to $77,592. The Non Union Compensation Framework is available here: educationnon-
