Blush Lane is looking for a Produce Supervisor to join our growing team at the Bridgeland location (617 Meredith Road NE, Calgary).

The Produce Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Department Manager with the supervision and operation of
the produce department and its team of employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Department Manager with the supervision of produce clerks. This includes assisting with hiring
staff, scheduling, giving feedback to employees, and directing the work.

  • Assist the Department Manager with ordering, merchandizing, and customer service.
  • Assist the Department Manager with staff training.
  • Provide excellent customer service by advising customers on selections and ensuring that customers get the
products they need.

  • Ensure the department is tidy and well stocked at all times. Build displays, stock merchandise, rotate and trim
produce to ensure freshness. Ensure price tags are accurate, and continually face the department.

  • Maintain proper cooler rotation and perform cooler maintenance in accordance with standards.
  • Receive incoming deliveries, review invoice accuracy, and inspect products to ensure they meet our quality
standards.

  • Provide training to department employees on policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback to the Department Manager on ways to improve the department or the customer service.
  • Report to the Department Manager any employee performance issues.
  • Maintain a safe and positive work environment for customers and staff.
  • Special projects and other duties as required.

Customer Service:

  • Serves as a role model in providing excellent customer service.
  • Interact with customers to find out what they want and how satisfied they are with the merchandise.
  • Address and resolve customer service problems, with assistance from the Produce Manager for more serious matters.

Inventory, Ordering, Pricing and Budgeting:

  • Oversee for instore inventory control including routine counts, stock rotation, new product selection and
manager specials to reduce overstock.

  • Check invoices for proper costing. Approve invoices for payment and enter them into the department budget
spreadsheet under the supervision of the Produce Manager.

  • Maintain price integrity throughout the department. Check and maintain shelf tags and sale tags to ensure
prices are correct.

  • Monitor inventory turn targets and margins at the store, report any concerns to the Produce Manager.

Merchandising:

  • Build attractive and creative displays to highlight current promotional products, highvolume, and highmargin
products.

  • Build displays to promote flyer promotions, following instructions from the Category Manager.
  • Coordinate with other departments to crossmerchandise throughout the store with promotional products
and in-store specials.

  • A solid understanding of organic produce, the organic farming industry, and the operation of a produce
department.

  • A solid team builder and team player who can work both as a leader and a team member.
  • Is able to work in a highperformance environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Seeks to understand customer expectations is responsive and adapts to customer needs.
  • A good listener and strong communicator who is able to interact effectively with all types of people.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict management skills.

Qualifications:

  • A Grade 12 diploma with at least 2 years of experience working in a retail setting, preferably in the grocery
sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • An interest, background, or work experience in the natural foods industry would be an asset.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 4050 pounds.
