Reporting to VP Logistics, the Supervisor Pipeline Scheduling is a leadership role with two (2) or more direct reports. This role will be responsible for providing key support to the Gibson Marketing team by managing the purchases and sales volumes, and inventory positions associated with all deals executed by the Trading team. This role works closely with internal teams including Producer Services, Analytics, Trading, Commercial Services and Accounting.
What You'll Be Doing
- Responsible for leadership of team members through daily supervision, guidance, mentorship and development including:
- Managing performance of individuals to achieve results.
- Building a collaborative, innovative team to exceed customer expectations (internal and external).
- Communicating the Company's vision and strategy in relatable terms.
- Creating an environment of engagement for team members to produce high quality services through goal setting, clear expectations and timely feedback.
- Oversee physical receipts and deliveries of crude oil by pipeline for the Gibson Marketing team.
- Maintains monthly supply/demand balances and position reports.
- Supervise receipt/supply schedules with customers, and with transportation and pipeline companies consistent with contracts and tariffs.
- Handle the start-up of new business, and work with customers and service providers to ensure satisfactory commencement of new operations.
- Review all commercial deals to understand pricing and to schedule/coordinate logistics to ensure all deals are executed and completed within the terms of the deal.
- Be highly responsive to fast-paced market changes as described by the Traders, manage long/short pipeline positions effectively to ensure assets are kept full and that product is continually supplied, in multiple locations.
- Support Traders with rates and analysis, keep contracts whole month-to-month and communicate to the Traders their long/short product positions.
- Assist with margin optimization by understanding trade deals, quality constraints and executing pipeline trades and other tasks to realize the highest margins.
- Ensure anticipation of internal and external industry transportation challenges and regulatory issues (i.e. pipeline, rail, truck and terminal) and provide process, product or service improvement reports to the Gibson Marketing team.
- Communicate with Gibson Marketing and Operations Teams to assist in locating and developing new truck, pipeline and rail loading/unloading facilities to support the Gibson Marketing business.
- Participate in all month-end tasks including balancing and reconciliation of inventories to meet accounting deadlines.

- Demonstrate a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- 7-10 years experience in the petroleum industry – in particular crude oil movements and scheduling experience (rail and truck scheduling experience is an asset).
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to meet industry deadlines with respect to scheduling and nomination of crude oil and condensate.
- Prior experience with ETRM software; familiarity with Right Angle software would be considered an asset.
- Ability to operate and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to be proactive, self-motivated and take initiative.
- Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exhibit strong communication skills with ability to influence pipeline operators, schedulers, traders, producers, and other stakeholders.
- Operate with a mindset of continual process improvement.
- Ability to adapt to continually changing industry and environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office systems (Excel and Word).
