Role Responsibilities

As the Accounting Supervisor of the Financial/File Control Unit, you will oversee the accurate processing and disbursement of all received monies in payment of fines, bail, restitution, search fees, following established procedures and policies for the Provincial Court Criminal Division.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and guidance to ensure all administrative functions are properly completed, such as producing refund cheques and data entry.
  • Acting as a resource person for the Unit and other sections regarding accounting matters.
  • Participating in recruitment, staff training, and addressing employee relation issues.
  • Ensuring accuracy in processing payments received and filing of necessary documents.
  • Reviewing and signing cheques related to Restitution, Bail, and Overpayment of Fines.
  • Preparing daily cash reports and reconciliations.
  • Entering endorsement information into the system for documentation production.
  • Updating the computer system with all financial transactions.
  • Assisting in the preparation of refunds for various payments.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma and three years of accounting experience.

Preferences and Assets:

Relevant education and/or accounting experience are considered assets.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong data entry skills.Experience with JOIN /1GX computer systems and specialized financial skills.

Equivalency:

  • Directly related education or experience is interchangeable.

Minimum recruitment standards outline the necessary education and experience for this role.

Notes
  • This is a full-time permanent position in Calgary.
  • Work hours are 36.25 per week.
