Under the supervision of the Supervisor Procurement the Supply Chain Analyst - Buyer will primarily be responsible for procuring materials in a cost-effective and timely manner to ensure the materials are available to the organization when required while maintaining optimum inventory levels.
Duties & Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
- Purchase all materials and services as required to maintain established inventory levels and project requirements
- Expedite purchase orders to ensure the timely arrival of materials to meet established schedules, this includes managing supplier relationships and monitoring performance
- Analyze internal demand requirements and external market conditions to identify areas of opportunity and improvement
- Electronic issuance of Request for Quote (RFQs), and Purchase Orders (POs) within SAP
- Liaise with Inventory Control, Warehouse, and Technical Services, and suppliers to address questions and concerns regarding stock status, consumptions and shortages
- Ensure materials are approved by Engineering Standards team
- Provide proactive solutions to resolve purchasing issues and build efficiencies
- Assist in the preparation, evaluation and award of tenders and contracts for material
- Survey the market for competitive quotations and sources of supply from approved suppliers
- Run and maintain various reports and programs
- Special projects and other duties, as assigned
What will you bring to the Role?
- Possess a clear understanding of standard business practices, inventory management, purchasing processes, supply chain management, and terminology, so as to understand the impact of decisions on the organization
- Intermediate skills in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) transactions (including but not limited to; stock overview, goods forecasting, reservations, issues, receipts, returns)
- Intermediate skills of SAP Materials Management module (Inventory Management, Purchasing, MRP, Warehouse Management, Procurement)
- Proven ability to work in a team environment, or independently with mínimal supervision
- Verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings
- Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with stakeholders, internal customers, vendors, and team members
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with all levels of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues by analyzing and evaluating possible solutions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage demands within tight timelines with a high level of accuracy and professionalis,
Qualifications we are looking for:
- A Degree or diploma in Business or related discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a buyer role is required;an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- A completed Supply Chain Management certificate, diploma, or professional designation (SCMP, CSCP, CPOM, SCOR-P, CPSM, CPSD, CSCMP, MCIPS) would be considered an asset.
- A certificate in Business Analysis or Data Analytics would be an asset
- Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be an asset
