DESCRIPTION:


The Quotation Analyst is responsible for ensuring customer inquiries regarding new service construction are handled in a manner which meets FortisAlberta's new service quotation standards.

This job requires sound judgment, an understanding of distribution design requirements and standard pricing policies, and exceptional customer interaction skills.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Analyze customer service requirements using electrical engineering concepts to accurately assess customer load.
  • Provide technical expertise on overhead and underground distribution systems in order to assess changes to electrical facilities for customers.
  • Analyze customer facility connections to the power grid in order to identify distribution system requirements.
  • Use the approved estimating tool to provide a quote for the service within one to two business days.
  • Use guidelines and standards to assess the risk associated with quoting the customer without meetings or site inspections.
  • For high risk, more complex service requirements, provide suitable information to mobilize appropriate EPC, Pricing, and Planning resources to provide the customer with a quote.
  • Commit to customers both price and delivery for all distribution quotations and act as the primary contact until the project is accepted by the customer and moved to construction.
  • Assess appropriate payment and contract terms and authorize the appropriate EPC group to construct the service.
  • Provide ongoing direction to the Customer Connections Support Assistant/Coordinator to ensure the quality of the quote letter and information within the documentation supplied to the customer is clear, accurate and timely.
  • Work with the Customer Connections Support Assistant/Coordinator to ensure that customer contributions and advances are paid and recorded in SAP.
  • Ensure that SAP billings proceed as per the terms of the business agreement.
  • Advise Stakeholder Relationship Managers and Major Account Representatives of issues pertaining to new connect requests.
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A demonstrated understanding of electrical distribution design requirements and standards.
  • Working knowledge of standard pricing policies.
  • Rates and Terms and Conditions knowledge.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and rules of the various Rural Electrification Association (REA) groups
  • Advanced skills in CRM, GNet Viewer (AM/FM), Cincom estimating tools.
  • Advanced business communication (written & oral) skills with ability to explain technical information to customers without the background.
  • Demonstrated written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional customer interaction skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, MS Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or
  • A Civil Engineering Technology Diploma with two (2) years of direct electrical industry experience may be considered. or
  • A Journeyman Power Line Technician certificate or
  • A Journeyman certificate in a relevant field and 2 years experience in a customer service role
  • A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Class 5 driver's license in good standing is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year of experience in a Design Specialist/Technologist role would be considered an asset.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a Technical role would be considered an asset.
  • A certificate in project management, business administration, business analysis, data analytics, or a related field would be considered an asset.
  • A Technologist in Training (TT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation through the Association of Science & Engineering Technologists (ASET) would be considered an asset.

Special Conditions:

  • Due to geographic and training considerations, some travel, including overnight stays, is required.
