Our Public Affairs team is fully integrated, so our interns get to work closely with our account teams, supporting a variety of public affairs and communications projects, including media relations, social/digital media, strategic engagement, community management, advocacy, writing, and research.


Here's what you'd be doing:

  • Being involved in developing clientfacing deliverables
  • Stakeholder research and outreach
  • Media distribution list creation and updates
  • Participating in brainstorms and internal strategic meetings
  • Keeping up with industry news and trends and sharing learnings with the team
  • Developing materials, including brief notes, stakeholder lists, meeting requests, clientfacing reports, and meeting summaries
  • Monitoring provincial and municipal proceedings,
  • Relevant media monitoring
  • Developing measurement reports and analysis
  • Providing administrative and account management support to senior team members and file leads

What you'll need to get here:

  • Recent or pending graduation from a communication, public relations, government relations, public affairs, or related program.
  • Genuine passion for public affairs and the BC provincial and municipal political landscapes.
  • Strong time management skills, with experience in multitasking, prioritizing competing demands, and meeting deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to suggest edits and/or changes to materials.
  • Eagerness to learn and drive to take initiative.
  • Familiarity with public relations, public affairs, and social/digital disciplines via education, internships, and/or previous work experience, particularly in a political or government internship.
  • Familiarity with BC's media landscape, with specific focus on the Legislative Press Gallery.
  • Experience using social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube).
  • Deep interest in current affairs and trends.
  • Knowledge of British Columbia's provincial and municipal policy development process.
  • Political acumen.
