- $18.50/hour-May 3rd - June 21st: 30-60 hours paid prep time (flexible)
- June 24th - 28th: training (24 hours)
- July 1st
- August 9th: 40 hours/ week
- 5-10 hours after camp to complete an exit report

Camp Cosmos is proud to offer an Accessibility Program in order to meet the needs of campers with disabilities. Through this program, campers are matched with a shadow who accompanies them throughout the summer and facilitates their participation at camp. The Accessibility Program has seen considerable growth over the past several years and is continuing to expand. The Accessibility Director will be responsible for evaluating the program and helping to determine future directions, as well as overseeing the program during the summer of 2020.

**Responsibilities**:

- Evaluating the current state of the Accessibility Program and identifying barriers to the participation of campers (and staff) with disabilities at camp
- Drafting and implementing accessibility policies and protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers and staff
- Raising funds for the Accessibility Program, primarily through grant writing
- Conducting interviews and overseeing the hiring of shadows and shadows in training
- Building training modules for shadows and camp staff on working with children with disabilities
- Working with parents and educators of campers with disabilities to create individualized needs assessments, pair campers with shadows, and adapt programming to meet campers' needs
- Maintaining communication with parents throughout the summer and providing weekly report-backs
- Supervising, evaluating and supporting shadows throughout the summer and facilitating weekly shadow meetings
- Working with the camp director to ensure that summer programming is accessible and adaptable
- Acting as a replacement shadow as needed
- Promoting anti-ableism at camp and developing age-appropriate educational programming about ability and disability for campers
- Assisting the director with administrative tasks as needed

Skills and Experience
- Bilingual French and English (additional languages an asset)
- Experience working with children with disabilities, particularly children on the autism spectrum
- Strong understanding of anti-oppression and anti-ableism
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Good crisis management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and flexibility
- Grant writing experience an asset

Le Camp Cosmos est fier d'offrir un programme d'accessibilité afin de répondre aux besoins des campeurs ayant des besoins spéciaux. Grâce à ce programme, les campeurs sont jumelés à un accompagnateur individuel tout au long de l'été qui facilite leur participation au camp. Le programme d'accessibilité a connu une croissance considérable au cours des dernières années et continue de prendre de l'ampleur. Le directeur de l'accessibilité sera chargé d'évaluer le programme et d'aider à déterminer la direction qu'il devra prendre, ainsi que de superviser le programme au cours de l'été 2020.

Responsabilités
- Évaluer l'état actuel du programme d'accessibilité et identifier les obstacles à la participation des campeurs (et du personnel) handicapés au camp
- Rédaction et mise en œuvre de politiques et de protocoles d'accessibilité pour assurer la sécurité et le bien-être des campeurs et du personnel
- Collecte de fonds pour le Programme d'accessibilité, principalement par la rédaction de demandes de subventions
- Mener des entrevues et superviser l'embauche d'accompagnateurs et d'accompagnateurs en entraînement.
- Construire des modules de formation pour les accompagnateurs et le personnel du camp sur le travail avec les enfants ayant des besoins spéciaux.
- Travailler avec les parents et les éducateurs des campeurs handicapés pour créer des évaluations individualisées des besoins, jumeler les campeurs avec les accompagnateurs et adapter la programmation pour répondre aux besoins des campeurs
- Maintenir la communication avec les parents tout au long de l'été et fournir des rapports hebdomadaires
- Superviser, évaluer et soutenir les accompagnateurs tout au long de l'été et faciliter les réunions hebdomadaires
- Travailler avec le directeur du camp pour s'assurer que la programmation d'été est accessible et adaptable
- Agir comme un accompagnateur de remplacement au besoin
- Promouvoir l'anti-capacitisme au camp et développer des programmes éducatifs adaptés à l'âge
