DESCRIPTION


Camp Cosmos is a summer day camp for children from families on low-income, particularly those of single-parent, refugee, immigrant, and/or Indigenous background(s).

The camp is located in Westmount, and our office is downtown near McGill metro. We are an environmental camp committed to providing a summer of fun and discovery for our campers. We celebrate the richness that diversity of experience brings to our camp community.


Working as a team with the Camp Directors, the Athletics & Wellbeing Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the 6-week summer athletics programming.

This will include coordinating with existing community partners, as well as outreach to new community partners.

The Athletics & Wellbeing Coordinator will also design and deliver games training for camp staff and campers, and lend support to the Camp Directors as needed on an ongoing basis.

The activities coordinated by the Athletics & Wellbeing coordinator could include organized sports, games, cooking, mindfulness, swimming and health/wellbeing practices for the three different age groups at the camp.


Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to existing community partners about continuing collaborations; plan activities for campers.
  • Develop and implement games training for camp staff
  • In partnership with the Camp Directors, develop the sixweek camp program for each age group; research and compile physical activities for kids
  • In partnership with the Camp Directors, acquire all needed material for camp games
  • Participate in daily staff meetings

SALARY DETAILS:

- $18.50/hour
  • May 3rd
  • June 21st: 3060 hours paid prep time (flexible)
  • June 24th 28th: training (24 hours)
  • July 1st
  • August 9th: 40 hours/ week
  • 510 hours after camp to complete an exit report

Camp Cosmos est un camp de jour d'été pour les enfants de familles à faible revenu, en particulier ceux d'origine monoparentale, réfugiée, immigrante et/ou autochtone.

Travaillant en équipe avec les directeurs de camp, le coordinateur d'athlétisme et de bien-être sera responsable de superviser le développement et la mise en œuvre du programme d'athlétisme d'été de 6 semaines.

Cela comprendra la coordination avec les partenaires communautaires existants, ainsi que la sensibilisation de nouveaux partenaires communautaires.

Le coordonnateur de l'athlétisme et du bien-être concevra et offrira également une formation sur les jeux pour le personnel du camp et les campeurs, et apportera un soutien continu aux directeurs du camp au besoin.

Les activités coordonnées par le coordinateur d'athlétisme et de bien-être peuvent inclure des sports organisés, des jeux, de la cuisine, de la pleine conscience, de la natation et des pratiques de santé/bien-être pour les trois groupes d'âge différents du camp.


Responsabilités:

  • Discuter avec partenaires communautaires existants au sujet des collaborations continues; planifier des activités pour les campeurs.
  • Développer et mettre en place une formation aux jeux pour le personnel du camp
  • En partenariat avec le directeur de camp, développer le programme de camp de six semaines pour chaque groupe d'âge; rechercher et compiler des activités physiques pour les enfants
  • En partenariat avec le directeur de camp, acquérir tout le matériel nécessaire aux jeux de camp
  • Participer aux réunions quotidiennes du personnel
