In addition to salary, full-time and part-time permanent employees are eligible for an annual bonus plan, leave of absence top-up programs and provided with generous vacation time, personal days, premium free benefits and pension plan.


The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role.

Working under minimal supervision, the Actuarial Expert-Personal Lines Pricing is responsible for leading development of best practices integration into processes and methods used by the actuarial team.

They function as experts in actuarial methodologies and mentor actuarial staff at all levels in the understanding and use of these methods.

They innovate on our current actuarial practices and effectively manage multiple high priority projects within a department.

This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.

High degree of mastery over accessing, selecting, and interpreting data.
Strong ability to innovate on complex projects
Develops creative approaches to solve complex issues and assesses impacts of solution options
A leader in the actuarial community. Brings that knowledge and experience to Wawanesa's actuarial community.
Contributes to training materials. Has a strong network inside and outside of Wawanesa. Leverages rapport with stakeholders to keep people up to date on key projects.
Project Management
Leads large-scale, complex and high-impact projects and initiatives across diverse project teams. Includes implementation of final product. Includes training and documentation of the project.
~ Actively contributes to the mentorship, training and development of actuarial analysts and sometimes managers

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related discipline
More than ten years of actuarial experience an asset
Communication/Building Relationships
Leaves behind useful and functional documentation on projects.
Uses graphs and data in a way that supplements their arguments.
Computer/Programming Skills
Fully proficient with Excel, SQL, R, Python, or other specialized programs.
Develops effective and accurate timelines for project planning
Ability to draw out insights from other team members, leveraging the experience of the full team.
