Your opportunity:

Our ESG Services team is looking for a
Manager, ESG & Climate to join BDO's ESG team to support the delivery of ESG strategy, reporting, program development, and implementation to clients across a range of industries.

This position can be filled from anywhere in Canada.

Our growing ESG practice provides a range of advisory services to clients in both the private and public sectors. Our ESG services range from broad ESG strategy to specific climate target setting and reduction initiatives.

This position will support in the execution of:

  • ESG Services
  • Supporting our clients through their ESG journey by identifying the most applicable ESG framework for their business
  • Performing materiality assessments prioritize our client's tops ESG concerns
  • Developing Sustainability/ESG reports by supporting our client in quantifying their ESG data (GHG, waste impact, health and safety metrics, EDI tables, etc.) while creating a comprehensive narrative that reflects our client's current initiatives and future sustainability goals
  • Ensuring Sustainability/ESG reports are aligned to ESG framework reporting requirements (TCFD, GRI, SASB, etc.)
  • Developing sustainability initiatives to help our clients grow their ESG programs and support with the implementation
  • Climate Specific Services
  • Performing climate risk assessments to understand client's material risks and financial impact
  • Quantifying Scope 1, Scope 2 & Scope 3 (all categories) emissions in line with Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP)
  • Supporting client in creating climate targets approved by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
  • Managing the development of climaterelated risk reduction and decarbonization strategies and performance monitoring
  • General
  • Managing the development of informative, compelling, and persuasive clientfacing project deliverables, presentations and collateral materials using your command of publishing resources (including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Supporting client relationships and business development initiatives such as leading proposals, identifying new target clients, and develop ESGrelated "go to market" strategies

Your experience and education**- A minimum of 5 years of relevant applied climate and ESG experience in industry and/or consulting

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Sustainability or Business is preferred
  • Experience with materiality assessments and supporting clients in understanding their priority ESG concerns
  • Understanding and experience with emissions reporting in accordance with global sustainability reporting frameworks (i.e., SASB, GRI, WEF, TCFD, UN SDGs etc.)
  • Understanding of climate change related risks and opportunities and their financial impact in line with TCFD
  • Experience in providing decarbonization advisory services aligned with SBTi and Net Zero strategies
  • Understanding of setting organizational and operational boundaries for large and complex organizations (i.e., Equity Share, Financial Control, Operational Control)
  • Extensive experience quantifying client's Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions aligned with the GHGP or ISO 1406
  • Advisory and/or assurance experience associated with sustainability, environmental and/or GHG reporting considered an asset (ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3410)
  • The ability to analyze new and emerging trends in the business, risk, and environment, social and governance (ESG) landscape
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced professional environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work on multiple or complex projects simultaneously
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to maintain strong client relationships
  • Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset
