Summary of position:


Reporting to the Central Region Procurement Manager The Buyer will be focusing on the purchasing, receiving quotes and working closely with the shop floor and non-product suppliers.


Main responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting RFQ's (requests for quotations)
  • Analyzing proposals, negotiating price/lead time and terms and conditions
  • Validate material requirements, issue purchase orders for tooling, fixtures, maintenance and nonproduct in Kitchener
  • Support The Cambridge facility by issuing nontooling purchase Orders
  • Expedite open purchase orders, ensuring on time delivery is met
  • Update system (BaaN) with delivery changes, communicate all issues
  • Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback
  • Participate in meetings when discussing new tooling requirements with programmers and/or engineers
  • Follow up with suppliers on nonconformance corrective actions and any certification issues
  • Assist GM's and Department Supervisor's with identifying new suppliers
  • Prepare expediting reports for backorders
  • Scan all tool drawings into the system
  • Collect, catalogue and prepare waybills for shipping regrinds back to the customer
  • Assist finance and GM's with cost analysis
  • Maintain a tooling budget and report status
  • Any other duties as assigned
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements

Qualifications:

  • Business
  • Purchasing or supply chain post secondary educational
background

  • Five years of buyer/purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with Baan MRP system is an asset
  • Previous experience in public company environment is an asset
  • This position requires good communication skills, as well as, the ability to effectively work with others towards a common goal.
  • Accuracy and able to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to deal effectively with suppliers and represent the company in a professional manner
  • Good organizational and follow up skills
