Teaching Assistant Curriculum Mapping, Dentistry
The College of Dentistry is seeking a TA to undertake a curriculum mapping exercise in the College of Dentistry (CoD) for the DMD program.
The successful TA applicant will be enrolled in a graduate program at USask with a focus on curriculum and curriculum development. A student enrolled in a PhD program is preferred.
Curriculum mapping is a mandatory part of the accreditation process of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CAC) the accrediting body of professional dental education programs in Canada. Curriculum must be mapped to the competencies described in the ACFD Educational Framework for the Development of Competency in Dental Programs published by the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry (ACFD). Additionally the ACFD is in the process to transitioning to a new list of competencies as described in the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) for a Beginning Dental Practitioner in Canada.
The successful TA applicant will undertake mapping the curriculum of the College of Dentistry DMD program to both described lists of competencies. Additionally and coincidentally, the TA will map the curriculum of the CoD at a more granular level than the competency documents, to support curriculum review and development through the office of the Associate Dean, Academic (ADO) of the CoD.
It is anticipated that the exercise will take approximately 10 hours per week over a 4-5 month period.
The ADO will provide support for the position and make all relevant documentation available to the TA, and facilitate interviews with faculty as required.
The CoD is willing to provide remuneration in excess of the normal TA salary at USask.
