Job Description:

We are looking for a data-savvy
Research Associate to join our
Lower 48 Upstream Team in
Houston.


This role is uniquely positioned at the front lines of our Lower 48 and global unconventional oil and gas analysis research.

You will use a combination of oil and gas expertise along with data management skills to help transform our upstream shale research.


About the role


You will be able to reconcile and align differing geologic and economic datasets and create a new way to deliver data to our clients.

You will be highly resourceful and call on a wide range of sources to feed into your analysis.

You are comfortable and efficient at manipulating data. You appreciate rigorous analysis but can also step back and prioritize the most business-critical improvements.


You'll need to be flexible and able to manage your time and workload, since priorities can change at short notice as business needs arise.

You will ensure that we embrace new technologies or techniques to improve data processes and workflow.

Qualifications:

You possess the following core competencies:

Required

  • Industry experience: 03 years in upstream oil and gas, energy finance or consulting
  • Prior experience with advanced data analysis in Excel, PowerQuery, Python, or R.
  • Comfort with VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, and the ability to trace and understand formulas.
  • An educational background in Geology, Geosciences, Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills and curiosity
  • Able to work effectively in a fastpaced work environment and with ambiguity at times
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and develop relationships with people at all levels in an organization
  • Effective communication skills with an ability to clearly present a view along with the arguments and data that support it
