The Program Manager provides leadership by directing and supervising employees in the Program Department to ensure programs (i.e. addictions, wellness, social and mental health) operate effectively, meet the needs of clients and operate in accordance with government contractual agreements and Salvation Army standards. The incumbent will reflect and apply the general philosophies and policies of the New Hope Centre to staff, clients, visitors, and other agencies, while leading a team of 25+ individuals. The successful candidate will ensure that the Program Department delivers safe, relevant programs that promote the dignity and respect of the people we serve.

The New Hope Centre provides services and support to individuals transitioning and reintegrating from correctional facilities to the community, as well as individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and mental health concerns.

Hours:

  • 40 per week
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, arts and/or Human Resources sector is required.
  • Training/knowledge related to budget development, project management and leadership.
  • Training/knowledge in conflict management, addictions and mental health.
  • Must pass criminal record check (vulnerable sector)
  • Must pass Federal Government "Enhanced Reliability" Security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 Driver's License and clean driving abstract.
  • Must possess and maintain an active valid Occupational First Aid Certificate.
  • Clear TB screening
Experience:
  • Candidates will possess at least three (3) years of progressively responsible, professional level experience: working with homeless programs and populations, , behavioral health programs including drug &.alcohol recovery, mental health, corrections / closely related complex care, and special needs programs.
  • Minimum 3 years working in a management capacity. Strong technical and administrative skills are required and the ability to lead and manage a diverse group of staff.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Extensive knowledge of the local community and available local resources / social service sector.
  • Extensive knowledge / experience working with marginalized groups
  • Demonstrated cultural competency working with the Indigenous community and with Indigenous service agencies.
  • Extensive group facilitation experience; coaching and leadership skills.
  • Proven flexibility and creativity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • A clean drivers abstract.
