The Program

Main's Program is designed to accommodate youth that have experienced a history of failure in other programs and group homes in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Our services support youth recovering from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and overcoming other adversity by providing them with housing and trauma-based guidance.

We accommodate and support traumatized youth in comfortable and welcoming facilities with twenty four hour staffing. Paired housemates share common areas but each child has his or her own bedroom. We offer a safe environment in a residential and friendly neighbourhood. An open door policy encourages a wandering youth to return at any time.
In Your Role You Will

  • Ensure staff utilize practices that promote the health, welfare, safety and security of service recipients and staff. Leading behavioural/intervention strategies, ensuring best practice and evidencebased practices are utilized in behavioural support plans
  • Receiving and processing referrals. Monitoring program implementation and adjusts service delivery program adaptations, as necessary
  • Providing initial and ongoing assessment/case management of youth behavioural needs and functional abilities to include review of supporting documents/previously completed assessments.
  • Developing, defining, and monitoring individualized service plans based on needs as well as behavioral priorities of youth, making recommendations for achieving goals.
  • Developing safety plans/protocols for youth and staff, leading implementation, and assuring compliance and quality of safety plans.
  • Conducting program/specialized service risk management assessments.
  • Designing data collection protocols, interpret data to make databased decision relative to individuals in service (youth). Produce program, occupancy, annual and other reports as required.
  • Ensuring client files are maintained and reporting requirement are filed according to established timelines.
  • Comply with and utilize appropriate crisis prevention and intervention standards and practices
  • Involved in recruiting, screening, hiring, supervising, and evaluating program staff.
  • Creating training material, facilitating training, coaching, and mentoring staff on implementation of specialized practice intervention/strategies (approaches, best practice, trauma informed and mental health) specific to persons served and service delivery.
  • Ensure the program and staff comply with policies, procedures, collective agreements as well as the values of the agency.
  • Ensure staff who dispense medication to service recipients receive appropriate training and that all medication is dispensed according to the guidelines established by the Medication Safety and Advisory Committee.
  • Participating in clinical meetings, collaborating/liaising with professionals, ICM and family/ies with establishing, implementing, and monitoring short and longterm goals, objectives.
  • Transporting service recipients in WJS vehicle or personal vehicle.
  • Serving as oncall and emergency coverage (pager or cell phone as required).
  • Monitoring service delivery/operating policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with those of the agency and support safe operation of the program.
  • Contributes to establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy physical environment and adheres to health and safety requirements.
  • Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned.
The Position

The Program Manager provides operational and administrative direction for the development, implementation and management of the program in these CARF-accredited agencies.

They implement and monitor policies and procedures related to day-to-day services to persons served and direct and coordinate the day-to-day management of program staff.

They work directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required, and are responsible for overseeing and coordinating individual program plans.

The Program Manager participates in agency decision making and is the primary liaison with the contracting body.

Scheduling:

This permanent, part-time position will work 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 4 hours per day. Scheduled hours will vary, but will be between hours of
