What You'll Be Doing:

  • Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design/QA or installation specifications
  • Set up equipment for employee use, ensuring proper installation of cable, Point of sale systems, and appropriate software
  • Maintain a record of daily tasks/projects, problems and remedial actions taken, and RMA activities
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct Hardware diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems (RMA) and provide technical assistance, support, and labour.
  • Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems, modifications and QA processes
  • Relay major hardware/software problems or defective products to the Hardware Manager, product specialists, vendors, and/or technicians
  • Prepare evaluations and maintain an accurate stock of hardware inventory
  • Keep track of all received and shipped items, including serial numbers and pictures
  • Inspect equipment and read order sheets to ensure proper delivery
  • Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs
  • Answer users' inquiries regarding POS software and hardware operation to resolve problems
  • Occasional visits to client sites may be required
  • Coordinate hardware projects as assigned from start to finish, which includes: tagging, configuration, installation, QA, packaging, and preparation for shipment

What We're Looking For:

  • A completed postsecondary education
  • Previous experience building/troubleshooting hardware products
  • Demonstrated success working on fastpaced teams/environments
  • Comfortable and confident interacting with Volanté's internal team and external customers
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of Linux/Ubuntu
  • Advanced knowledge/understanding of Windows
  • Proficiency with Google and Office Suite
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate a pump hydraulic pallet truck
