This position is presently located at the St. Thomas site.

Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) is currently looking to fill one (1) student position to support the Emergency Management & Preparedness Program.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a master's program in Emergency Management and Business Resilience Planning or Public Health.
  • A fundamental understanding of emergency management/ business resilience exercise program design, facilitation and evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others in a mentored team setting.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in an environment of competing demands.
  • Excellent computer skills specifically in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point Skills.
  • Effective and proven research abilities with the ability to synthesize information for a broad audience.
  • Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective multidisciplinary team member.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Commitment to selfreflection, professional growth and development.

Nice to Have:

  • Basic Emergency Management (BEM)
  • Exercise Program Management (EM 225)
  • Business Continuity Management Certification (BCI, DRII or equivalent)
  • Previous practical experience in Emergency Management/Business Resilience (volunteer and/or paid position) would be an asset.

Special Conditions:

  • Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable access to an insured working vehicle.
  • Compliance with all SWPH's administrative and relevant program related policies and applicable provincial legislation.
Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Employment Agreement.

Salary:
$20/hr (70 hours in a two-week period).
Will receive vacation pay each pay period.

Immunization Requirements:

Provide documentation you have received two (2) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, plus at least one booster dose, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
