The Glencoe Club is a private, family-oriented sports and social club located in the Elbow Park neighborhood of Calgary, Alberta.

Our facility boasts a full-service food & beverage department as well as nine sport facilities.

These facilities include curling, bowling, skating, aquatics, squash, tennis, badminton, climbing centre, fitness centre, as well as an indoor playground, pro shop, wellness centre, physiotherapy, childcare, and registered preschool.


The Glencoe Golf & Country Club is 45-hole private golf club on 440 acres, located just west of the city limits on Highway 8.

We are looking for an H&S Coordinator who is part of the Health and Safety Team at The Glencoe Club and The Glencoe Golf and Country Club.

You will focus on delivering a high level of service in relation to the administration and coordination of the Health and Safety Management System.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in facilitating health and safety orientations at The Glencoe Club and at the Glencoe Golf and Country Club
  • Assist in the administration and coordination of a club wide employee training and development program. This will include evaluating departmental training needs with supervisors, coordinating details and facilitators for training sessions, tracking employee orientation, training and development progress, and carrying out club wide training initiatives with Health & Safety
  • Coordinate contract instructors for employee training sessions
  • Assist with data inputting and tracking of training and certifications
  • Manage, assist, participate and/or support others in the planning of various meetings including departmental meetings
  • Participate and provide administrative support on the Glencoe Health, Safety & Wellness Committee and the Calgary Recreation Community Health & Safety Committee assisting in planning and executing safety and wellness initiatives
  • Assisting with health & safety related special events (Flu clinic, audits, etc)
  • Assist with the development of hazard and risk assessments for positions and tasks
  • Assist in investigations
  • Coordinate and conduct auditing activities for annual COR Health & Safety Audit
  • Assist with facility Inspections
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures and safework practices
  • Assist is triaging incidents or member submissions, and managing risk management processes into Resolver software
  • Complete and manage disability management documents and employee communications including shortterm medical, longterm disability and Worker's Compensation Board (WCB)
  • Liaise with benefit providers on claims management
  • Develop modified duties and return to work programs for employees

Qualifications:

  • A proven track record, with 12 years of experience in H&S, including delivering training sessions
  • Experience with Health & Safety Information Systems
  • A working understanding of the Worker's Compensation Board (WCB) processes and policies, short and longterm disability programs
  • Proven administrative, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • A basic understanding of employment / health & safety standards and Alberta legislative requirements
  • Experience in developing and facilitating training events
  • Experience with health & safety management systems would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Partners in Injury Reduction / Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program in Alberta
  • CHSC or QHSO designation or equivalent safety designation or working towards a designation in health & safety is considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license
  • Access to reliable transportation as there will be a requirement to drive between our two locations from time to time
  • Excellent communication skills

  • High standards of ethics, honesty, confidentiality, and integrity
This is a Permanent Year-Round, Full Time salaried position. Applicant must be flexible as occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a background check, and an online Respect in the Workplace certification.
