Responsibilities:


The lead software developer will have overall responsibility for the development of X-ray fluorescence software Peakaboo as well as associated resources and infrastructure.


The lead software developer will be responsible for consulting with colleagues including chemists and geologists to gather requirements for new features and improvements, as well as design and implement solutions that meet those requirements.

The lead software developer will also use their knowledge of analytical methods and the existing code base to propose new features or improvements.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Sciences or related field

Experience:

Application development experience including:

  • 8 years or more with Java software development.
  • Creating documentation and manuals, including familiarity with the LaTeX typesetting tool.
  • Git version control software.
  • Experience designing and creating data analysis tools including:
  • Using numerical methods and scientific data analysis techniques to quickly process large data sets.
  • Familiarity with Xray fluorescence physical experimental setup and data collection process.
  • Signal processing, curve fitting techniques, and data filtering.
  • Memory use and timecomplexity optimization techniques.
  • User Experience skills including:
  • Designing user interfaces and workflows for complex data analysis tasks
  • Designing and implementing interactive visualizations for scientific data
  • Designing icons, logos, and other graphical assets.
