Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Financial and Regulatory Reporting and the primary role is to manage the internal and external financial and regulatory reporting of the Company.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of the Group's financial statements including related notes in accordance with IFRS and best practices.
  • Complete analysis on new financial reporting standards as they arise.
  • Enhance and continuously improve the financial and regulatory reporting processes, including opportunities to reduce cycle time.
  • Ensure timely filing of all regulatory reports to various regulators and industry bodies.
  • Lead financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials to our ratings agencies.
  • Contribute to financial system transformation.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors for activities under his/her responsibility.
  • Take part in various projects and participate in complex special transactions.
  • Coordinates and directs effective workforce planning and strategies including scheduling assignments and managing time off.
  • Responsible for completing annual performance reviews, recommend position promotions, salary increases, and manage discipline including recommendations for terminations and the termination process.
  • Manage training, development plans and succession planning.
  • Manage, analyze and report on Key Performance Indicators required for operational effectiveness and staff productivity.
  • Establish department goals and objectives and coordinate department functions to achieve them.
  • Liaise with Computer Programmers to create system improvements, provide upgrades to system requirements, provide direction/specs, and test program changes for completeness.
  • Possess a strong command of best practices and current trends in marketing strategies and stay ahead of market developments, advancements and methodologies.
  • Responsible for change management which includes implementing corporate and operational initiatives intended for improvements to department efficiency and staff productivity.
  • Work with our internal audit team to review department processes and respond/implement any recommendations for changes.
  • Attend and actively contribute to all corporate training and initiatives, when required.
  • Establish and maintain effective department procedures compliant with corporate services levels and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, licensing and other regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and finance.
  • Proven ability in people management and change management to drive a high performing culture.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
  • Fluent in French with proven competencies in verbal and written communication, is an asset.
