DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for processing/cleaning/high level disinfection/sterilization of all endoscopes, accessories, and various endoscopic instrumentation
  • Responsible for reprocessing Endoscopes according to CSA/CSGNA standards and guidelines
  • Ensures decontamination, cleaning, inspections, preparation and assembly of endoscopes, instrumentation and accessories with strict adherence to departmental standards, policies and procedures to maintain safe patient care

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing certificate program from an accredited academic institution or graduate of MDRAO certificate course with a minimum requirement of 1 year of recent Endoscopy work experience in a hospital or clinic
  • MDRD upgrade courses are considered an asset
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of decontamination, preparation and high level disinfection/sterilization of endoscopes and endoscopy accessories according to current published CSA/CSGNA standards
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and their use including basic knowledge of WHMIS
  • Knowledge of infection control guidelines regarding endoscope cleaning/high level disinfection/sterilization
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Computer experience and knowledge
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position (lifting, bending, twisting, close scope inspection)
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload within a dynamic, fast paced work environment
  • Must have an excellent attendance record

HOURS:

Must be available for day shifts; 7am, 7:30am, 9am, 10:30am and on-call on weekend/stat holidays (1 in 4) from 9am-3pm
