Job Description

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a skilled Medical Device Reprocessor to join our team. As a Medical Device Reprocessor, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the reprocessing of medical devices, including decontamination, sterilization, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform procedures at multiple stations, requiring care and attention to detail
  • Check and prepare supplies and inventory, handling delicate and expensive equipment with care
  • Perform high temperature steam, low temperature ethylene oxide, and other forms of sterilization
  • Enter and update records in a timely manner
  • Utilize knowledge of over 1000 instruments to identify and differentiate between instruments
  • Perform picking and issuing responsibilities
  • Maintain the mobile Respiratory Therapy crash cart
  • Perform inventory control responsibilities
  • Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a post-secondary certificate in Sterile Supplies Processing Techniques or equivalent experience
  • Membership with the Central Service Association of Ontario (CSAO) an asset
  • Proficient in the correct operation of all processing equipment
  • Knowledge of instrument technology, case cart picking procedure, sterilization/decontamination procedures/methods, microbiology principles, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to understand detailed forms, standard memos, and operating and procedures manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, and calculate percentages
  • Compliance with Body Substance Precautions provisions and physical demands of the job
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN, and/or departmental policies
  • Client service oriented with ability to effectively work with diversity
