2. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a talented and capable
Data Management Specialist for our
Vancouver Island (Victoria) office.

  • Possess a
    strong working and demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat. Postsecondary education or training in a technical discipline or have experience working in a technical and professional setting is an asset.
  • Have prior experience with data management (data entry, organization and tracking). Experience working with ESdat EDMS software and Data Management System, as well as having knowledge of the CSR Standards and Federal Guidelines for Contaminated Sites are an asset.
  • Be detailoriented, organized and reliable.
  • Have good planning and problemsolving skills.
  • Be able to prioritize and execute given tasks within the given timeline.
  • Possess strong communications skills and be able to present themselves professionally as a representative of the company at all times.
  • Already live in the Greater Victoria area or be fully committed to relocating immediately and for the longterm.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Managing, importing, and checking laboratory data, primarily using
    Microsoft Excel. These datasets typically consist of results from environmental samples (soil, water, vapour, sediment, building materials, etc.) collected by field technicians and scientists.
  • Reviewing field notes and verifying information with other Active Earth staff as warranted.
  • Comparing results to a defined set of regulatory standards / guidelines / criteria and flagging. Performing relatively simple calculations, where required.
  • Formatting data tables for inclusion in professional technical reports.
  • Supporting and communicating with company project team staff primarily with data management and data presentation.

3. PAY, BENEFITS & HOURS
This will be
permanent full time hourly position, with a
two weeks paid
annual vacation. We anticipate a beginning wage of
$25 to $28 per hour, dependent on skills and experience.
